The Different Shapes of Roses
Share
Roses come in an amazing variety of shapes and sizes that can be used to complement any gardening style. Few flowers can rival the rose for an effect of love and tenderness.
These flowers come in a wide variety of shapes, sizes, colors, and fragrances. Here are some brief descriptions of a few flower shapes.
Nested Shape
The numerous petals are slightly curled outwards, like roof tiles. 'Cuisse de nymphe épée' roses have this very full shape.

Globular shape
These roses have an almost perfectly round shape. The outer petals, which are very long and concave, cover the inner petals.

Quarter Shape
These roses appear to be divided into several sectors in which their petals are increasingly pressed against each other in the same direction.

Flat shape
The surface of roses is flat. The largest petals overlap, giving the flower a flaky appearance.

Turbine Shape
This is the characteristic form of modern roses that are currently the most widely cultivated in the world.

Cross-section shape
The rose is cup-shaped. The outer petals are concave at the bottom and turned outwards at the top. Some roses reveal their stamens.

Finbriate form
These roses have petals that are finely cut on the outer edge.

Peony shape
These roses have a very full shape.
